World Physiotherapy Day is on 8th September every year. The day is an opportunity for physiotherapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution the profession makes to keep people well, mobile and independent. In 1996, the World Confederation of Physical Therapy, now known as World Physiotherapy, was designated 8th September as World Physiotherapy Day.
This is the day World Physiotherapy was founded in 1951.
The day marks the unity and solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. It is an opportunity to recognize the work that physiotherapists do for their patients and community.
Using World Physiotherapy Day as a focus, World Physiotherapy aims to support member organizations in their efforts to promote the profession and advance their expertise. Each year, World Physiotherapy aims to spotlight World Physiotherapy Day with a unique theme and specific industry-related focus.
The focus for this year’s Physiotherapy Day is low back pain and the role of physiotherapy in its management and prevention. Physical therapy provides a variety of benefits including reduced pain, improved function, increased range of motion, proper alignment and more.
Of course, the primary goal of physical therapy is restored function and a return to activity, but these things are often a byproduct of a larger rehabilitation process during which many patients learn a whole new way of moving.
The major goals of physical therapy are fixed faulty movement patterns, prevent buildup of scar tissue, stretch tight muscles and joints, strengthening and improve outcomes.
How to celebrate World Physiotherapy Day through webinars and workshops, community outreach and education, social media campaigns, wellness events and health fairs and promotions and discounts. Whether you are a child, teenager, adult or senior, Physiotherapy can play a vital role in maintaining and improving your physical well-being.
From injury rehabilitation to chronic pain management and overall fitness enhancement, physical therapy offers a range of advantages regardless of your age.
